Group Resignations by Socotra officials Protesting the Appointment of a Governor who is Member of the Yemeni Reform Party

Several local authority official in Socotra resigned their offices protesting on the appointment of a new governor. Brigadier Mohamed Ali Al-Sufi, commander of the first infantry brigade, captain Abdullah Suliman Al-Agamy, general director of immigration department, colonel Mohamed Murshed Abdullah, commander of Kalansia police department, Ahmed Essa Kassem, acting director of Conference Party, major Mohamed Ali Al-Daksamy, director of crime investigations in Haidabouah police department and lieutenant Aref Mohamed Saad, director of operations in Haidabouah police department, resigned their offices. Media reports indicated that these group resignations came in protest of appointing Ramzy Ahmed Said Mahrous, who is accused of being member of the Yemeni Reform Party, as a new governor of Socotra. It is noteworthy that president Hady issued a presidential decree no. (30)/ 2018 appointing Ramzy Ahmed Said Mahrous, a member of Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen as governor of Socotra.
