SMA News – Agencies General Association of Civilian Aviation in UAE indicated that Qatari military air crafts intercepted two Emirati civilian air crafts during their flights to Bahrain. WAM official news agency indicated that the General Association of Civilian Aviation in UAE received a complain of a national aviation company indicating that Qatari military air crafts intercepted one of its planes during a regular trip to Manama while flying over regular aviation paths, in a serious threat for civilian aviation safety and in clear violation of international aviation conventions. The association indicated that the aforementioned trip was regularly scheduled with all international authorizations and permissions. The association also asserted such threat to civilian aviation safety is totally rejected and the association will take all legal measures to assure civilian aviation safety.
Later, the association indicated that Qatari military air crafts intercepted another civilian plane during the landing stage in Manama international airport. This trip also was regularly scheduled with all international authorizations and permissions, in a second violation of of international aviation conventions. The association indicated that it is now discussing all legal options available at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and all concerned international bodies.
According to a Qatari official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatari authorities negated such news completely.
