Al-Ghaithi said in a series of tweets on Twitter account:
Today in the General Department of Foreign Affairs, we sent a message to the President and members of the Security Council, as well as to the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Martin Griffiths, and to the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordination.
We explained the nature of the conditions in Aden the capital, and the south in general, and we informed them about the reasons for the emergency decision and self-administration, and how it has become necessary to take this step, as well as our perception of the next stage, and our commitment to the principle of transparency and governance to achieve good management.
There is no doubt that the policy of collective punishment practiced by successive Yemeni governments on our southern people comes as a major reason, especially with regard to the issue of the humanitarian, health, services, developmental, security, and political situation. Our focus is now to address these issues, protect the people in the south, and confront the Corona pandemic.
We stressed on the importance and necessity of implementing the Riyadh agreement, and we highly value the positions that emphasized the importance of the cause of the people of the south and we need to see this recognition reflected in the essence of the United Nations-led process in addition to the necessary international guarantees, we support the special envoy, and ready to play our role in the peace process
Finally, we will continue to work with our regional partners and our international friends, and we will continue to be active partners on the ground in our collective efforts to counter the threats posed by terrorism and extremism.
