Assistant of UN Secretary General for UN Security and Safety Office (UNSECOORD) Praises the Projects Initiated by UAE in Yemeni Liberated Governorates
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] On Wednesday June 27th, 2018, commandership of the Arab Coalition met Mr. Peter Dranyen, UN Security and Safety Office (UNSECOORD), and his accompanying delegation. Eng. Said Al Ali, director of UAE Red Crescent’s office in Aden attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the humanitarian and charity activities of UAE Red Crescent in Aden, Lahj, Abian, Al-Dalia and Tazi on the occasion of Zaid’s year.
Director of UAE Red Crescent’s office presented a thorough presentation about the office’s activities since the beginning of 2018 and explained each phase in details. He also presented some of UAE Red Crescent’s activities including digging water wells in most affected areas like Al-Kubaita well in Lahj, in addition to providing Aden with water pumps, rehabilitating a number of damaged schools in the liberated governorates and providing refugees with food baskets.
UN delegation discussed the details of establishing an electric power station that is expected to be launched in Aden with capacity of 120 mega watt and a cost of 100 million US Dollars at the expense of Khalifa Ben Zaid’s foundation for Humanitarian Works. This power station will help decreasing power blackouts in Aden.
Director of UAE Red Crescent’s office also presented events held by the office including Mother Day, International Poetry Day, Dawn Syndrome Day and other events. He asserted that UAE Red Crescent distributed 30 thousand food baskets on needy persons in Aden, Lahj, Abian, Al-Dalia and Taiz in addition to hosting mass Iftar banquets during Ramadan for 75.888 persons in the five governorates.
On the other hand, Mr. Peter Dranyen, UN Security and Safety Office (UNSECOORD), praised the efforts of UAE Red Crescent for helping Yemeni people as he appreciated mass projects held by UAE Red Crescent in the liberated governorates, especially during Zaid’s Year. He requested full coordination with commandership of the Arab Coalition in Aden to secure humanitarian aids and deliver them for needy persons all over the liberated governorates.
At the end of the meeting, UAE Red Crescent awarded UN delegation the shield of solidarity at Zaid’s Year.
