SMA NEWS – Aden the Capital

We read a lot about the precedence of Aden in democracy, legislation, airlines, air and sea navigation, refineries, television, journalism, radio, theater, cinemas, sports clubs and other things before many Arab and Islamic capitals knew it.

All of these characteristics that were unique to Aden gave it the leadership among its counterparts from the cities of the East, and recorded its name at the forefront of the ranking of civilized cities.

Whereas Aden was at the forefront of sixty or seventy years ago, and now it is assumed that it has advanced more or maintained its advanced position at least in these areas, but unfortunately, it has descended and plunged to an abyssal level, which has brought it to the bottom, then after this long distance of time, Aden returned back to an era of seventy years ago.

Aden is the capital of South Arabia, and then the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen, then it’s become the smile of Yemen, and the economic capital later and now, mute without a tongue to speak, sing, and chant, and even complain, plead, and cry for help.

Aden is now in the year 2021 without its ancient radio station, which had a great positive impact in shaping the Southern human consciousness, culture and intellectual formation, and without its satellite channel, which is one of the first televisions in the Arab world, and emerged from within it dozens of the most prominent broadcasters, directors and technicians who have become famous and referred to them by the grace, and from its screen, the world knew this part of the Arab world, its history, culture, and civilizational legacy

Aden now in the year 2021 without its prestigious newspaper, October 14, which the citizens of Aden would beautify their eyes by seeing it every morning, and being informed of the news of the country and the people at home and abroad through it, and reading sports news and newspaper columns, and solving crosswords, Aden now is without its news agency that was the only source for texts, voices, and images of all news of the party leadership, the State, and government activities, and provincial authorities.

This is how the media sector in Aden has become, it was pioneering until before the catastrophe in 1990, and its next consequences of the calamities that befell the city, and its six elder sisters and the South in general, and its media received a final blow in 2015 as its tongue was cut off by the dagger of the hateful regime over the history of Aden and its cultural and civilizational legacy and in the hands of those who took leadership at the Ministry of Information, and Al-Eryani Moammar, is the last of them.

Who would believe or dare to believe that radio stations of small and rural provinces have been broadcasting their programs for years and until the moment, and Aden Radio is still suspended due to the strange and wondrous insistence of the Ministry of Information, and the issue of re-operating its broadcast is still linked to the mood of the “young” minister and at his mercy, and its fate is tied to a moment of sympathy, compassion, and satisfaction from His Excellency, and its old television building has become a ruin that crows crowing on its roofs, in its windows and in its balconies, and in the ceilings of its studios, in the corners of its offices, and in its halls, spiders weave their threads, while its name and logo are used by another channel broadcasts from Riyadh and does not belong at all to Aden, and the legacy of its TV channel, or even to its content with anything.

Aden today, the rust covered the printers of its only press journalist institution, the corridors of its building are buzzing with the voices of its employees complaining about the stoppage or irregularity in the payment of their monthly salaries, and its offices complain about corruption and problems of its leadership, and here is the modern building of its news agency, empty, and its walls and tiles lined with dust of neglect and marginalization that mimic time and evoke the virility of its past, lamenting its bad fortune, crying bitterly over its bitter present, and its news agency is nothing more than a modern building devoid of furniture, equipment, journalists, and almost everything.

The question is for how long will the official media in Aden remain like this, and when will this sector be freed from the grip, mentality, and policy of neglecting by the minister?
