July 7th, The Darkest Day in National History

Written by: Ghassan Ben Yazid

[su_dropcap]O[/su_dropcap]n this unfortunate and unforgettable day, the terrorist triad of Sanaa’s military, tribal and religious forces launched their barbaric campaign on Southern Yemen and its capital, Aden. For 73 days, they bombarded and destroyed all military, historical and civilian places in addition to the infrastructure of the southern state.
No doubt, this day will remain in the memory of upcoming generations, not only for the bitter memory of barbaric invasion from a historical enemy who hates the south and its people, but also as a black book of shame for those who collaborated with the occupation troops and sold their homelands and themselves with a very cheap price.
Although the consequences of this invasion are still being seen all over the south, all traitors, agents and spies who became politicians by accident are trying to make this dark day a day of celebration. On that day, a punch of mercenaries robbed Aden and destroyed all its vital facilities. They burnt its civilized face. Those narrow-minded thieves with their black history of terrorism and vice, came after the religious opinions of extremists and jihadists. They consider that day as their day of victory and every year they celebrated the fall of Aden.
They violated southern lands, expelled southern employees, assassinated and executed southern politicians and even killed and exiled innocent civilians. When they disagreed with each other, they tried to repeat the invasion in 2015. But that time, they didn’t find their agents and collaborators. The whole south, humans and lands, fought and defeated them.
As we finally found allied of our Arab brothers, some of us are trying now to turn us back again to Yemen with a project that is no difference than the project of “union or death”. For them and their masters, we should say: die in agony. Aden will never fall no matter you do to fabricate facts. Aden was occupied before and was the target of vicious attacks for its fortune and unique positions. But at the end, Aden always prevails over tyranny. Aden always defeats agents and invaders.
Honestly, our country will recover from these diseases and regains its freedom, national unity and dignity unless this dark era ends gloriously when the southern people erupts from Al-Mehra to Bab Al-Mandeb and sweeps this garbage of occupation out of the south. All collaborators and traitors should be expelled and the free southern people should be willing to prioritize the national interest over any tribal or partitive interests. All this goes off but home remains for all.
Anything but that, God forbids, will drive us back to the hollow circle of crises and catastrophes where politicians of coincidence and the foolish gang of the republic protected in Maasheek will benefit from such a situation. The only loser will be us, the southern people with all its sectors.
As we enter the 25th year after this catastrophe, I hope that 2019 will see the end of this painful past.
