A new phase in the efforts that have been made to find a political solution and end the Yemeni crisis has begun with the promulgation of a presidential decree by Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, forming the new power-sharing government and naming its members.

This was after the Yemeni parties, represented by the legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) with their military and political wings, implemented the Riyadh Agreement with the support and assistance of Saudi Arabia.

Following the announcement of the formation of the new Yemeni government, the Saudi Foreign Ministry welcomed the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement by the Yemeni parties, represented by the legitimate government and STC, and the subsequent announcement about the formation of a government of political competencies that includes all components of the Yemeni spectrum.

This happened after the implementation of the military arrangements for the departure of the military forces from Aden to be stationed outside the governorate and the separation of the military forces in Abyan and their transfer to their designated sites.

Saudi Arabia appreciated the Yemeni parties’ keenness to uphold the interest of Yemen and achieve the aspirations of its people to restore security and stability, considering the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement an important step towards achieving a political solution and ending the Yemeni crisis.

It is known that the international community is counting on the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement to enhance security and stability in Yemen, and to support the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen to reach a peaceful and comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The British Foreign Office published a statement of Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on its Twitter account, saying: “Thanks to Saudi efforts, today a new Yemeni government was announced. This is an important step towards implementing the Riyadh Agreement between the government of Yemen and Southern Transitional Council and takes us one step closer to the peace that Yemenis urgently need.”

The declaration of the Yemeni power-sharing government reaffirms the keenness of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, on neighboring Yemen being a unified country, as Saudi Arabia has made great efforts to successfully implement the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, placing the interest of the Yemeni people as top priority.
This is clear, especially with Saudi Arabia’s continuous role in Yemen’s development that is in parallel with the political and military role to achieve stability and development of the Yemeni citizens. I always say that the greatest Saudi effort in Yemen is in the humanitarian and developmental spheres than the military effort.
Therefore, the new Yemeni government is the government of all Yemenis, and it is a single political contract that guarantees the equitable participation of all united parties within the front to confront the Iranian project in Yemen, and it is not exclusive to one party or group.

The formation of the government now is a renewed evidence of the success of the Riyadh Agreement, and the Kingdom’s willingness to stand with Yemen — the state, and the people.
