Representatives of the Southern Transitional Council Participate in the Second Joint Parliamentary Conference about Yemen in Scotland

A delegation representing the southern transitional council participated in Second Joint Parliamentary Conference about Yemen, held in Edinburgh and Glasgow – Scotland. The conference was attended by parliamentary members, political leaders and international organizations from all over Europe.
The meeting, held on Thursday June 20th, 2019, discussed in its morning session in Edinburgh, the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Yemen. The evening session in Glasgow discussed means of stopping war and establishing peace in Yemen.
During their participation, the southern delegation asserted the importance of southern participation, represented by the the southern transitional council, in any upcoming UN negotiations concerning peace process in Yemen. They indicated that any solution will fail if a rightful solution of the southern cause is not reached according to the southern people’s expectations.
Parliamentary members and representatives of international organizations also asserted the importance of southern participation, represented by the southern transitional council, in peace process to reach a peaceful solution for the Yemeni crisis.
Michael Aaron, British ambassador to Yemen, asserted the importance of a political solution for the Yemeni crisis and asserted support to UN envoy’s efforts and appreciation of his steps to build confidence according to Stockholm agreement. He indicated that the peace process should treat all unsolved issues including the southern cause.
Dr. Aidarous Al-Naqueeb, vice chairman of foreign affairs department of the Southern Transitional Council, headed the delegation.
