Department of Woman and Child Holds a Seminar about “Southern Woman as A Political Decision-Maker”

[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Department of Woman and Child at the general secretariat of the southern transitional council held a seminar on Wednesday October 24th, 2018 titled by ” Southern Woman as A Political Decision-Maker” with the attendance of Mr. Fadl Al-Gaadi, deputy secretary general and member of the council’s presidency.
In his speech, Al-Gaadi explored the heroic roles and sacrifices of southern women as active partners in struggle.
Nour Fadl Abdullah, chairwoman of the woman and child department, indicated that women are the life vain as inclusive development and new society can never be achieved unless women play a vital role in decision making. She added that lack of political will is a political barrier on the road in addition to passive tribal legacy. She also indicated that the department has a continuous plan for training and qualifying women leaders and empower them politically, economically and socially. She also indicated that these plans include all matters of interest concerning urban and rural women.
The seminar included several working papers. Dr. Najeeb Ibrahim Soliman, researcher of contemporary political history, explored the characteristics of southern women struggle and observed the evolution of women elites very early and their participation in political, social and intellectual life. He also noted the roles of southern women during the first independent state.
Dr. Fadl Al-Rubaei, chairman of MADAR center for studies and research, discussed opportunities and challenges of participation in political decision making for women. He indicated that women suffer a very delicate situation concerning their rights and empowerment.
Dr. Hussain Al-Hudaithi discussed the status of women in the southern society and their actual political role in addition to challenges facing women when participating in political decision making.
