Lamlas and Humaid direct to open streets and to lift concrete barriers at Aden International Airport

An extended meeting held on Tuesday in Aden the capital, gathered the Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, and the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid, to discuss the mechanism for opening the public street and the main gates of Aden International Airport.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Aden Security; Major General Mutahar Al-Shuaibi, and the Director General of Aden Airport; Abdul Raqeeb Al-Omari, and members of the Security Committee, in which it touched on many issues related to developing the airport’s infrastructure and facilitating the necessary procedures for travelers to improve the airport’s navigation activity.

During the meeting, the governor of the capital, Ahmed Lamlas, and the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid, stressed the need to speed up the transfer of concrete barriers, and to open the street and the airport gates, as this would facilitate the necessary procedures for travelers and the citizens in general, while taking all measures and security measures that would provide the necessary protection for the airport, stressing that the local authority and the ministry keep pace with government directives that include air, land, and sea transport projects that of urgent importance and according to the necessary needs of their services and in line with the current stage aimed at economic recovery, praising the continuous efforts made by the Security Committee in this regard.

The Governor Lamlas, assured that the local authority leadership was keen to address all the challenges facing the ministry and its institutions, in particular to restore the status of Aden airport, after the systematic destruction it suffered by the Houthi militia, the most recent of which was the terrorist targeting of the airport during the government’s arrival at the end of last year, in which the local authority in Aden undertook the provision of scanners for luggage and goods and the costs of an advanced gate that befits the front of Aden International Airport.

The security situation was reviewed in the meeting by the director of security at the airport and the delegates of other security agencies, and measures were taken to ensure the organization and unification of all security agencies under the supervision of the Director of Airport Security and in coordination with the Director of Aden Security, and the Ministry of Interior and other higher security agencies, in a way that enhances airport security and ends duplication, and makes all efforts in the interest of airport security and passenger service, considering the airport as the front of Aden and its cultural gateway.

For his part, the Director General of Aden Airport, Abdul Raqeeb Al-Omari, indicated the importance of this important step, which will contribute to a qualitative leap in supporting and enabling Aden International Airport to provide the best services to travelers during the next stage.
