Major General Bin Brik chairs periodic meeting of National Assembly’s Administrative Board

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, chaired on Wednesday, at the Assembly’s headquarters in Aden the capital, the periodic meeting of the  Administrative Board of the National Assembly, in the presence of his deputies.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Assembly’s administrative board stood for a minute of silence to recite Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs who got killed in Al-Anad camp last week.

After that, Major General Ahmed bin Brik delivered a speech in which he said: “We are meeting today, and we are going through an exceptional circumstance that requires us to unite the efforts, and circumvent the Presidency of the Transitional Council, by reviewing the tasks that we will undertake during the current stage, which require us to be very careful in their implementation.”

Major General Bin Brik added: “As a leadership in the Southern Transitional Council, we accepted the Riyadh Agreement and in an equal partnership with the legitimate government, and we were keen to implement the Riyadh Agreement and its provisions, in order to resolve outstanding issues and ensure the provision of the required services such as salaries, electricity, water and health.”

The Chairman of the National Assembly pointed out that regional and international changes are moving quickly, which has been greatly reflected on the general situation in the South.

The meeting discussed the political situation and the role of the Transitional Council in arranging the southern dialogue, whether abroad or internally, with the existing personalities and components.

The attendees recommended the Council’s senior leadership to take the necessary measures towards resolving the social, economic and service crises, which are getting worse day after day.

The meeting also stressed the need to activate the role of oversight and accountability in all institutions, starting with the Transitional Council bodies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Administrative Board issued an important statement that included the issues raised in the meeting and the recommendations made by the administrative body that affect the life of the citizens and the current political issues on the southern arena.

Statement issued by the periodic meeting of the Administrative Board of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council for the month of August 2021

The Administrative Board of the National Assembly met on Wednesday morning, corresponding to the first of September, headed by Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, the Chairman of the Assembly.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in the southern arena, the practice of internal democracy, the renewal of the Transitional Council bodies, and the activation of the oversight role of the National Assembly.

The meeting also discussed political developments in the southern arena and important issues related to the southern dialogue, lands issues and economic issues whose repercussions the southern citizens suffers from, as well as the meeting discussed the level of security and military discipline of the southern forces and the good use of military capabilities.

At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees stood for a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of the treacherous terrorist aggression on Al-Anad camp, on Sunday morning, August 29 of the current year, which claimed the lives of the best sons and youth of the south. The meeting stressed the need to conduct an immediate investigation into this issue and to use regional and international expertise to uncover its circumstances and the recurrence of aggression against the south, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council will not stand idly by in the face of the accelerating events on the southern arena and has options that can be taken in a timely manner.

The meeting stressed the need to evaluate the performance level of the Assembly’s committees and members, and recommended the Presidency of the Transitional Council to take the necessary measures regarding abnormalities in the social, military, and economic aspects, lands issues, and corruption in southern institutions.

The meeting discussed the ongoing consultations to reach southern understandings on the serious southern dialogue that concerns the current stage and the future of the south, which will result in the signing of a charter of honor and political partnership on the road to restoring the southern state and building its institutions and administration.

The meeting also stood in front of the provocations of the Brotherhood’s Islah Party in the governorates of Shabwa and Hadramout, and its threats to use force and its reckless and irresponsible behavior, through campaigns of arrests of citizens, disrupting security and creating chaos and instability in the two governorates, with the aim of mixing papers and thwarting the Riyadh Agreement.
