Southern Independent Group Demanded UN to Stop Mass Punishment Exercised by Legitimacy Government Against the Southern People

[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Geneva – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]T[/su_dropcap]he Southern Independent Group condemned mass punishment policies exercised by some wings of Yemeni legitimacy government against the southern people as these wings ordered the stop of civil services in Aden as punishment for being involved in the public uprising against the government’s corruption and killing of peaceful demonstrators in addition to attacking martyrs’ funerals.
The group indicated that Minister of Interior Affairs froze the ministry’s work in Aden in serious violation and escalation against civilians. They indicated that this illegal act should be dealt with by UN and Gulf States to remove this disqualified minister.
The group demanded UN and other international organizations to assume their humanitarian responsibilities towards the southern people and to exercise pressure over the government to stop this mass punishment and reconsider the legitimacy of this government. In addition, the group demanded UN to provide the Southern Transitional Council with international legitimacy and to ban mass punishment according to article 33 of Geneva Fourth Convention that bans mass punishment.
