STC calls for formation of joint negotiating delegation according to the Riyadh Agreement

SMA NEWS – ADEN

The spokesman for the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Ali Al-Kathiri, said; The formation of the joint negotiating delegation is an essential step that should be taken in preparation for the upcoming peace process.

Al-Kathiri said, in statements carried by the “Hafaryat” website, that “despite the independence demands, from which the STC will not deviate, the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement is a transitional phase, and paves the way for fruitful negotiations between the two parties.”

He stressed that: Unless the Council participates in designing a framework that leads to a peace track, we are not bound by the results and consequences of that.

In response to a question about compatibility with the presidency on the formation of the joint negotiating delegation, Al-Kathiri replied; So far, there is no consensus, as the other party still refuses to complete the implementation of the agreement.

he added: We have informed all representatives of international actors, the countries sponsoring the peace process, and the international and US envoys; That the failure to involve the Southern Transitional Council in any movements or agreements that prepare the peace process gives us the right not to deal or accept the results of those movements or agreements, and there is a regional and international understanding of the need to involve the Council in any arrangements aimed at bringing everyone to a comprehensive peace process.

The Southern Transitional Council spokesman concluded by saying: “Unless the council participates in designing a framework that leads to a peace path, we are not bound by the results and consequences of that.”
