The National Assembly of Transitional Council launches works of its fourth session and discusses a number of important files

The National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, launched today, Wednesday, works of its 4th session in the capital, Aden, chaired by Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, the Chairman of the National Assembly, with the participation of all the Assembly’s members.

Over a period of two days, the National Assembly will discuss a number of files, the most important of which are activating the national dialogue, enhancing the southern alignment, and strengthening the National Assembly’s oversight role for state agencies and institutions in the South, and developing and updating the policies, strategic plans, and executive programs of the National Assembly, its administrative bodies, and its permanent committees.

In its 4th session, the National Assembly will also discuss applying the foundations and principles of the governance system to be a continuous process in performance, evaluation, reporting, control and accountability for the work of the Transitional Council in accordance with the foundations of the state.

There will be serious stand before the division of the Self-Administration as one of the three main tasks of the Transitional Council and how to achieve the administration of the South under the government of parity in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement, and adopting citizens’ issues and solving their problems, and standing up seriously in the face of the issues of services in all governorates of the South.

The 4th session of the National Assembly will also address the issues of restoring the position and role of southern women, achieving equality, and building her political capabilities, supporting and strengthening the role of youth to serve the southern cause, and activating the role of the media in line with the requirements of the stage.

In addition to that, the session will include creating external relations with the parliaments and councils of the countries of the region and the world that respond to the aspirations and ambitions of the people of the South, as well as developing cooperation with them, in particular the Arab coalition countries, and permanent members of the UN Security Council and the European Union.

The discussions will touch on the development of the institutional and organizational work of the Southern Armed Forces, the permanent follow-up for the educational process and its development, and the study of the project of preparing educational curricula in accordance with scientific developments, and focusing on developing research and scientific centers, upgrading their work, and following up on political and legislative research and studies.

The opening ceremony of the 4th session of the National Assembly witnessed in its first day a briefing by Mr. Mohammad Al Ghaithi, Deputy Head of the General Department of Foreign Affairs, delivered in which presented an overviewing on the developments in status of the Council and its cause in regard with the regional and international variables.
